  • Question 1 What other lotteries does the Mater Foundation offer?

The Mater Foundation offers four Lottery products.

    • The Mater Prize Home Lottery – raising funds for the Mater Mothers’ and Mater Children’s Hospital. Giving supporters the chance to win a million dollar home, six times per year.
    • The Cars for Cancer Lottery - raises funds for research into cancer and improved treatment for patients. This lottery is limited to only 15,000 tickets with the first prize being a performance vehicle. There are six Cars for Cancer Lotteries per year.
    • The chicks in pink Lottery – Held three times per year, this Lottery raises money for breast cancer services at the Mater. Tickets are only $10.
    • Cash for Kids Lottery – This lottery is limited to only 5,000 tickets and first prize is $10,000 cash! Funds raised through this Lottery contribute to a specific service or purchase of a piece of equipment. Tickets are only $20.
  • Question 2 How and when are the winners notified? And how do I get the results?

The winners of each lottery receive a phone call as soon as the draw is completed, followed by a letter 2-3 days after the draw date. The results will be displayed on the website as soon as possible after the draw is completed and also published in the public notices of The Australian (dates of publication are displayed on each brochure).

  • Question 3 How many lotteries are conducted per year?

Six million dollar Mater Prize Home Lotteries are conducted each year.

  • Question 4 How can I find out more about the Mater Foundation and the proceeds of the lotteries?

To find out more information go to the About Mater Foundation or Contact Us page and we will happily answer any questions.

  • Question 5 If I win how quickly can I move in?

Once you win the lottery, we schedule a handover at your convenience and you are free to move in straight away!

  • Question 6 Can I sell the house straight away?

Yes, you are free to sell the house once the transfer is complete which takes approximately 12 weeks from the draw date.

  • Question 7 Can I have random ticket numbers? Can I choose my own ticket numbers?

Unfortunately, you can not choose your own ticket numbers. Individually purchased tickets will have random numbers, however if you purchase a book of tickets they will be consecutive ticket numbers.

  • Question 8 What costs are covered in terms of rates, insurance and so on?

Rates are paid for the first 12 months and all legal fees are also covered.

Insurance on the house is included in the prize for 10 days after the handover (scheduled at your convenience after the draw, usually within 2 weeks). Electricity is also included in the prize for 10 days after the handover.

  • Question 9 What are the odds of winning?

According to Queensland Office of Gaming Regulations, Mater Lotteries are able to sell a maximum of 3,800,000 tickets in each draw.

  • Question 10 How is the draw conducted?

A ticket range is entered into a random number generator and, with the presence of a justice of the peace, the winning number is generated from the machine. Internal checks are then put in place to ensure that the ticket is valid and has not been cancelled or is unsold. Members of the public are welcome to attend all Mater Lotteries draws.

  • Question 11 Can furniture be changed to suit the owners taste?

Unfortunately, all the furniture in the Prize Homes has been purchased and therefore can not be changed.

  • Question 12 How does membership in the VIP Club Plus work?

Every month you will receive a VIP ticket in the Mater Prize Home Lottery, which will qualify you for a range of different draws. For your convenience your account will be debited on the first business day of every month according to your specified VIP amount.

    Example:
John has recently joined the Mater Prize Home VIP Club Plus as a $10 VIP. In the first month of each lottery he receives a gold $10 VIP ticket and his account is automatically debited $10. This ticket gives him $10 worth of entries in the current Mater Prize Home Lottery as well as entering him in 2 x $25,000 gold bullion draws and weekly $5,000 holiday draws, reserved especially for VIPs.

In the second month of the lottery he receives a blue $10 VIP ticket and his account is automatically debited $10. This ticket gives him another $10 worth of entries in the current Mater Prize Home Lottery, giving him a total of $20 worth of tickets in the lottery. The blue VIP ticket also continues his entries in the weekly $5,000 holiday draws. With a total of $20 worth of tickets in each lottery, this also qualifies John to win the $20 bonus prize (worth an extra $25,000) if he wins first prize!

As you can see, as a VIP the winning opportunities are endless! And remember your monthly membership will contribute to the care of thousands of sick babies and children at the Mater Mothers’ and Mater Children’s Hospital.
