Imagine how the winner felt when, at work, he got that magical phone call. Disbelief was his first thought … had Mater called the right person? And he still didn't believe he'd actually won until, with butterflies in his stomach and shaky hands, he checked his lottery ticket. So excited, he rang his mum and chatted for an hour, his parents were over the moon about their son winning a Mater Prize Home.

Our winner was born in Cairns, but grew up in Brisbane and loves the outdoors, camping and going to the beach. In fact, his favourite beach is at Noosa, so when he discovered that Mater had a prize home at Noosaville it started him thinking about purchasing a home lottery ticket. He decided to take a chance, after all you have to be in it to win it, and if he didn't, it was ok, because his money was contributing towards a very worthwhile cause - Mater Hospitals, helping sick kids and babies.

He plans to keep this home, after all he has never owned one before, and was saving madly to buy a property as he's getting married later in the year - now the pressure is off. And what a first home this is, with its modern detail and design, and the spacious outdoor living area which overlooks the nature reserve the home backs onto. He loves it all, especially the large and beautifully decorated main bedroom and surprisingly, the inviting bed linen!

He feels immensely happy with his prize home and lucky to win. Continually astounded by people’s positive reaction to his good fortune, he is now encouraging his family and friends to enter Mater competitions. Yes real people do win, so take a chance, buy some lottery tickets in the next or future Mater Prize Homes and like our lucky winner, your life could change forever!

A very lucky cupcake baking, tennis loving Cairns local is the latest Mater Prize Home winner and she couldn’t be happier.

Stacy Copelin is the owner of Seven Stars Cupcakery and now, a new million dollar home.

Purchasing a ticket in Mater Prize Home Lottery was more rewarding than Stacey ever imagined… but the lucky winner reveals she almost hung up on the man who called to give her the good news.

The lucky new home owner was preoccupied when Mater Foundation Commercial Director Bruce Dennehy called to give her the good news, and nearly didn’t have time to talk at all.

Stacy said she thought the phone call was to try and sell her more tickets. Bruce told her she should put down what she was doing but she refused, thinking their conversation would end soon. It was then that Mr Dennehy abruptly told Stacy she had won the competition - a new million dollar home in tropical Cairns.

The spacious home sits on two blocks of land and features a pool, tennis court and large outdoor living area. It’s no wonder Stacy pulled over straight away and had to be convinced that it wasn’t a joke. Stacey says that while her win still hasn’t sunk in, she is planning a big family Christmas and will never stop supporting Mater Lotteries as a VIP.

At only 26, Aaron McCabe could not believe his luck when he received the call from Mater Prize Homes notifying him that he had just won the Kawana prize home.

The win didn’t set in until he got home to check that the ticket numbers were correct and that the prize really was his. “I was in complete shock, I couldn’t believe it at first,” Aaron said remembering the moment when he found out that he had just won a million dollar prize home.

Once he got a hold of his nerves he went to inform his parents about his great fortune and had to spend five minutes convincing them that he had really won this amazing prize.

Aaron became a VIP member to help support the ongoing efforts of Mater Hospital and to dream about winning the Mater Prize Home, which finally became a reality for him.

When asked what he planned to do with the home he was still undecided, but noticed there were several building projects occurring across the Sunshine Coast and with his current qualifications as an electrician he would consider making a sea change for work.

With Christmas on the horizon Aaron is planning on spending a couple of weeks in his new home with family and friends celebrating all that the coast has to offer and spending many hours enjoying the pool and the outdoor entertainment area enjoying the lakeside views.

“Are you joking?” was all Shana Maguire could say when she was told over the phone that she had just become a million dollar Mater Prize Home winner. This lucky 21 year old was a loyal VIP Club Plus member, but it was the extra tickets she purchased over the phone that won her a new million dollar lifestyle and $50,000 gold bullion.

She became a VIP member to help the thousands treated at Mater and had never thought seriously about winning. “I just thought of it as a donation, helping the sick kids” she says “My baby cousin twins were born premature at Mater last year. They are healthy now and really cute. So we are grateful to Mater for this”

“I wasn’t saving because I never thought I could ever afford to buy a house, she says. Little did she know, her generous support would change her life forever. “I just love the house. “Most people don’t believe that people win these houses, but real people do win. All my friends and Mum’s friends are going to buy tickets in the Mater Prize Home Lottery now because they know that real people do win.”

In the wake of the Queensland flood disaster, a Rockhampton couple Alan and Michelle Ebert have been able to find dry land by winning a fully furnished $1 million Mater Prize Home Lottery in Kingscliff and $50 000 in gold bullion. “We have always struggled for everything that we own and have been living in government housing the size of the Mater Prize Home’s lounge room,” Michelle said.

“When we signed up as VIP members we were simply hoping to raise money for research and Mater hospitals. I never thought we’d win anything like this or own a home so I encourage everyone to buy a ticket for a chance to win and help Mater patients at the same time.”
