Six Mater Prize Home lotteries are conducted each year.
The winners of each Mater Prize Home lottery receive a phone call as soon as the draw is completed, followed by a letter sent to them via registered post 2-3 days after the draw date. The results will be displayed on this website as soon as the draw is completed and also published in the public notices of The Australian (date of publication is displayed in each lottery brochure).
Unfortunately, you cannot choose your own ticket numbers. Ticket numbers are automatically allocated within a ticket number range.
After purchasing online, a separate email containing your email tickets is sent after 2-3 working days. Please remember to add email@example.com to your email contact list, and mark these emails as SAFE or NOT JUNK, so they don't go to junk email.
A ticket range is entered into the Multi-function Random Number Generator from which the winning ticket number is generated. The draw takes place in the presence of a scrutineer as per licencing requirements. The scrutineer is an external auditor and internal checks are put in place to ensure that the ticket is valid and has not been cancelled, or is unsold. Members of the public are welcome to attend all Mater Lotteries draws.
Pursuant of the licencing requirements of the Queensland Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation, there are a maximum number of tickets that Mater Lotteries are able to sell for each draw. This number is subject to change and can be found in the Terms and Conditions for the current game on this website.
The number of tickets sold in each lottery game does not exceed the maximum number of tickets we’re allowed to sell. There are a number of sales channels you can purchase lottery tickets from. These include through the mail, from our website, from sales agents, and over the phone. Each sales channel is allocated a range of ticket numbers each lottery. Sometimes there are unsold tickets in a sales channel at the end of the lottery. This is why there will be ticket numbers sold, which are higher than the maximum number of tickets available. All tickets sold are included in the draw, including those which have a higher number than the maximum allowed to be sold.
All legal fees are covered, with insurance and electricity costs for the house included in the prize for 10 days after the handover. The handover is scheduled at your convenience after the draw, usually within two weeks. Winners also receive a VISA prepaid card which may be used to pay household costs, should the winner choose to use the prepaid card for this purpose. Ongoing payment of rates, body corporate fees, insurance and other household costs is not included in the main prize and is the responsibility of the new owner.
Once you win the lottery, we schedule a handover at your convenience and you are free to move in straight away!
Yes, you are free to sell the home once the transfer is complete which takes approximately 12 weeks from the draw date.
Unfortunately, all the furniture in the Prize Homes has been purchased and therefore cannot be changed.
Every month you will receive VIP tickets in the Mater Prize Home lottery, which will qualify you for a range of VIP exclusive draws in addition to tickets in the main prize draw.
For example, if you choose to become a $40 VIP Club member, $40 will be debited from your account on the first business day of every month.

VIP tickets are processed on the first business day of the month. Once a successful transaction has been completed (including your payment being received) you should receive your e-tickets within five business days. Or, if you choose to receive paper tickets you can expect them to arrive within 10 business days. Please note our business days are Monday to Friday for ticket processing.

Mater Cars for Cancer: Offering you the chance to win a high performance vehicle and other great prizes, the Mater Cars for Cancer lottery raises funds for cancer research and improved patient care at Mater hospitals. Tickets are only $30 each, with only 25,000 tickets sold per lottery.
Mater Chicks in Pink: Held twice per year, this lottery raises money for breast cancer support and services for patients being treated at Mater hospitals. Tickets are only $10 each.
Mater Cash for Kids: This lottery is limited to only 5,000 tickets and the first prize is $10,000 cash. Funds raised through this lottery contribute to supporting mothers and babies cared for at Mater hospitals. Tickets are only $20 each.

Unfortunately lottery tickets are not tax deductible. However, any donations made at the time of ticket purchase are tax deductible and a separate tax receipt will be sent for the donation.
Each state throughout Australia has its own legislation pertaining to art unions or prize home lotteries. For each lottery promoted by Mater Foundation, we receive licences from QLD, NSW and VIC state regulators to conduct lottery activities in each of these states. As we are unable to obtain licences in other Australian states we are unable to actively promote or market our lottery in these regions. If you live in a state where we have not secured a licence and wish to purchase a lottery ticket you must check with your state regulators to ensure you are eligible to enter.
